I'm home sick today with an awful chest cold, but with good news all around! I did not get RIF'd (laid off) for certain and Josh got on to the Fire Department! One other person at my school did get RIF'd besides Andy. Sarah has been at my school for 2 years and her husband is a cop. I'm glad she has a second income to lean on, and I also feel that she won't be unemployed next year for long. My principal even told me that they got the budget to reopen my position next year, so there should be room at schools to rehire these RIF'd people back. Fingers crossed, anyway. If not, there is always subbing... And in regards to Josh, the Capt. said Josh would be surprised how many FF's there are with hearing aids. He shouldn't feel that it lessens his competency whatsoever. Of course, I very sweetly squeezed in an "I told you so" in between my congrats. I'm proud of him for overcoming his insecurity with his "disability" and going for it. He has a prospering business and the chance to do what he loves now. I see only good things to come.
Auction tomorrow night and bookclub hosting on Sunday. I need to get well.
